Appuyer l’éducation et la réussite des communautés autochtones
Nous travaillons en partenariat avec des communautés autochtones pour renforcer les relations qui favorisent l’excellence des personnes autochtones.
Ces efforts se traduisent concrètement par la création de mécanismes de soutien et de programmes visant à élargir notre population étudiante et notre corps professoral d’origine autochtone, à créer un environnement universitaire accueillant qui explore et souligne l’autochtonie, et à établir des collaborations mutuellement enrichissantes avec les communautés autochtones.
Nous augmenterons la visibilité et la présence des peuples autochtones et de leurs cultures par la représentation physique et la reconnaissance symbolique, et nous soutiendrons le travail transformateur de vérité et de réconciliation.
Améliorer les bourses accordées aux étudiants de cycles supérieurs et postdoctoraux
Il est essentiel d’attirer et d’appuyer les jeunes chercheurs les plus brillants grâce à un financement concurrentiel à l’intention des étudiants des cycles supérieurs et postdoctoraux, car nous cherchons à établir une collectivité encore plus foisonnante d’esprits brillants et d’innovateurs talentueux.
Pour ce faire, nous offrons à nos étudiants des cycles supérieurs des financements compétitifs sous forme de bourses et de prix d’excellence en leadership.
Creating an Indigenous learning and sharing space (ILSS)
A campus environment that supports students’ physical, mental and social health and well-being is critical to student success. As the Indigenous community at McGill grows, there is an urgent need to update the existing First Peoples’ House to meet the evolving needs of Indigenous students, faculty and staff at McGill.
Envisioned as a holistic living and learning hub, the ILSS would help promote Indigenous cultural and knowledge exchange among students, faculty, staff and communities, and foster overall inclusion for the Indigenous community at McGill. The ILSS could include:
- Indigenous workspaces, including individual and common areas
- A ceremonial gathering space for approximately 120 people
- Space for programming by the Faculty of Education’s Office of First Nations and Inuit Education
Philanthropic support will be critical to the launch, sustainability and long-term impact of the ILSS.
