Outstanding training for outstanding students

Students are at the heart of what we do. Learning from world-leading faculty, community partners and each other, our students acquire an outstanding education and the skills required to keep learning and growing.  

With your support, we can ensure our students are equipped to meet future challenges by: 

  • Strengthening undergraduate, postgraduate, and graduate education through experiential learning opportunities
  • Modernizing facilities, including the McIntyre Building, the Strathcona Anatomy and Dentistry building, and the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning
  • Investing in new educational technologies, including augmented virtual-reality tools
  • Reducing barriers to higher education by offering scholarships and bursaries to top students and enhancing outreach efforts to under-represented groups
  • Enhancing teaching and learning by building communities of practice and incentivizing pedagogical innovation

  • Our flagship Clinician-Scientist Initiative: Offering start-up funding and stipends for the first three years of new clinician-scientists’ careers, positioning them to succeed in the largest provincial competitions; and awarding professorships for outstanding senior clinician-scientists
  • Program support: Providing administrative, finance and communications support to enhance the success of large grant applications, emerging translational teams and research centres 

The School of Biomedical Sciences

In 2020, the Faculty launched a new School of Biomedical Sciences, a powerhouse of research, graduate training and discovery. 

Your gift will support:   

  • Collaborative research initiatives: Retaining top-notch technical staff, managing large-scale datasets, and harnessing AI and other tools to drive breakthroughs in personalized medicine  
  • Equity and community engagement: Raising the School’s profile through public events, social media, and outreach initiatives in French and English
  • The Educational Delivery and Graduate Experience (EDGE) Initiative: A new project to integrate industry knowledge and skills into graduate programs
  • Experiential learning: Creating new opportunities for hands-on learning through clinical, government and industry partners  
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship: Providing seed funding and related support for innovation and curriculum development and commercialization
